Jesse Lieberfeld, JD
2021-22 Microsoft Research Fellow
Jesse Lieberfeld received his J.D. from Washington University School of Law in 2021. While at Wash U Law, he earned the International Association of Privacy Professionals Westin Scholar Award for excellence in data privacy law. He also served on the law school’s Technology and Privacy Society’s executive board, and was a primary editor of the Washington University Jurisprudence Review.
Prior to joining The Cordell Institute as the 2021-22 Microsoft Research Fellow, Jesse interned at the Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) and the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, where he researched and drafted briefs, memos, and FOIA requests on a wide array of privacy law issues. His work has covered surveillance, commercial data practices, consumer privacy, data-driven discrimination, and regulatory compliance.
Jesse also interned at Bay Area Legal Aid in San Jose, California, and worked as a paralegal at Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen, & Loewy LLP. He graduated from Pomona College in 2017 with a BA in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. He is a baseball fan, guitar player, and former radio DJ.
