Cloud computing has allowed more information to be stored on and processed through the internet than ever before. Today, everything from education and e-commerce, to personal banking and precision medicine is powered by computers in the cloud. However, when so much data about our lives is available to private organizations and governments at the click of a button, do our civil liberties still have meaning? The Cloud Civil Liberties project studies how important rights like free speech, freedom from unreasonable search and seizure, and the right against self-incrimination are impacted when life increasingly takes place in the cloud.
