The Cordell Institute partnered with Boston University School of Law and the Knight Foundation to convene a workshop on June 18, 2025, titled “Unpacking Relational Approaches to AI Accountability.” The symposium brought together academics from multiple fields, including law, computer science, and human-computer interaction. The conference explored how a focus on relationships can reveal AI’s potential harms and safeguard what organizers describe as relational equilibrium—a state where power remains fairly distributed, trust can flourish, and vulnerable individuals receive necessary protections.
