Friday October 28 was a day of stimulating discussion among leading experts on artificial intelligence in healthcare. At the Eric P. Newman Education Center on the WashU medical school campus, we led off with comments by Cordell Faculty Director Jonathan Heusel, MD, PhD, followed by a keynote address that set the tone for the day from Philip Payne, PhD. Randi Foraker, PhD then led a discussion among Joanna Abraham, Dr. Andrew Michelson, and Paul Sorenson concerning current AI applications in clinical and community health settings.
The day was rounded out with discussion surrounding challenges in law, policy and ethics, including leading law professors Sara Gerke of Penn State Dickinson Law and Frederik Zuiderveen Boregsius of Radboud University, Netherlands, and capped off with a discussion of emerging AI technologies and a look forward. Thank you to all who joined us!
